Exploring the Polar Lands in Nursery
This month we have loved learning through our Polar Lands topic. The children have been very busy discovering what life is like in the coldest places on Earth.
We learned all about polar animals, with a special focus on the emperor penguin. The children were fascinated to find out that the Daddy penguin keeps the egg warm on his feet until it hatches! We enjoyed talking about how penguins stay warm, move around and care for their babies.
To build on this, the children created their own penguins using triangle shapes, helping them to explore shape, design and early maths skills while having lots of creative fun.
We also imagined what it might be like to be an Eskimo living in an igloo, explored ice and melting, and even took part in some Winter?themed yoga, moving and stretching like Arctic animals.
